If I Were CNN or ABC, I'd Fire My IT Guy
This is totally asinine that a major organization like CNN or ABC can't figure out how to block a flippin' port on their firewalls so they end up getting servers shut down by this stupid worm. If I were management there, I'd have a reward out for the head of the idiot that left those ports open.
And for you Mac zealots out there, don't tell these people to get a Mac -- they just need better geeks.

Neil T. said on 08/18/05 @ 04:44 AM: It is a bit lame, really. Sure, it'd be great if MS's software wasn't buggy in the first place but preventing the problem is so damn easy.

/me stays quiet...
Jack K. said on 08/18/05 @ 07:43 AM: ...well, Jake, you might as well add a certain federal land management agency to that list, because they're in the same boat. There are entire ranger districts off-line and it's taken three days to get a fix implemented...
Brad said on 08/18/05 @ 11:57 AM: What I loved is that when CNN.com broke the story, the "breaking news" ticker thing of theirs said worm shutting down computers all over the country, when, in fact, it was mainly just them and other news orgs.
Josh Cordell said on 08/18/05 @ 05:29 PM: Get a Mac... oh I should have finished reading the post first!
Josh Cordell said on 08/18/05 @ 05:30 PM: What about a Mac and better geeks? Wouldn't that make the world a better place?
