Be Safe This 4th of July

There are typically more crash deaths today than any other day of the year. I'll be thinking of this on my drive home from the office today (yes, I am at work). Thankfully, I saw a pile of State Police officers on the commute this morning, so I'm hoping they'll be back again this evening.

I'm going to have a lovely, sleepless, evening, I'm sure, as our house is about a half-mile from where they shoot off the fireworks, so the neighborhood is always packed with drunken idiots trying to remove themselves from the gene pool but never succeed. Thanks to a commenter from last year, I'm thinking about putting up a sign that says "You Wake 'em, You Take 'em" (in reference to my 2 and 5 year old daughters -- the 5 year old will be watching the show on the Butte, but the 2 year old is staying in bed).

Meanwhile, here are the virtual fireworks I linked to last year. Be safe tonight.

Hi Jake,

Now don't scoff at my suggestion until you try it... get a noisy air cleaner and place it in your kid’s room. It's called "white noise", and it drowns out other noise that might wake them... i.e. barking dogs, car horns, the TV in the living room...etc. They'll sleep peacefully. Works great. Try it. (A fan will do until you get a noisy air cleaner.)
